Rolling Thunder XXI

What a day yesterday! We woke up at 5:30 am and headed out for the Pentagon parking lot by 7 am. We got there at about 7:45 and we were still no where near the front!! I am very thankful that it was not anywhere near as hot as it was last year though! Soon we were able to meet up with LAW! That was very neat for me! She is the first blogger I have had the pleasure to meet :) We also met her husband, which was awesome as well! After chatting with her for awhile, DH, the kids and I went walking around to look at all the bikes. There are so many that are dedicated to veterans at this event, that I couldn't even conceive of getting pictures of them all.

This one I actually heard the owner say that he plans on giving it to the Smithsonian after he has passed. (I am not including all the angles of this bike, there are many!!)

That bike also happened to be next to the OCC National Guard Bike! Which was very cool for me as I watched this bike being built on American Chopper.

The following is a picture of Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers.
I also caught a glimpse of airforcewife of Spousebuzz fame from afar. I wasn't sure it was her until today, when I saw the pics of her kids on Spousebuzz here. The following is one of my munchkins. They don't like the camera or anything..........

I am so thankful that we were able to attend this event for a second year in a row. It is wonderful to see how many people turn out to remember those who are gone or still MIA, and those who have or are still serving. I also feel very blessed to have had our motorcycle and my family blessed by a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. It was a wonderful day.

Kipping Pull Ups

I have received a request from Loquita for tips on pull ups. I should start out by saying that I cannot do a strict pull up......yet. I use a kipping pull up. This link takes you to a page that explains the use of the kipping pull up vs. strict pull up.

The above link actually gives a demo on the kipping pull up. I hope that this helps!

My Mother's day

Well all in all it was a pretty boring, but relaxing day. I received some beautiful cards from DG and Speed. I want to scan them in and post them here, but that will have to wait until later today.

DG made a card at school that included a fill in the blank page about you mom. DG's went as follows:

My mom is prettier than .....a pony in a bow! (Yes, I am prettier than a horse LOL)

My mom is smart, too. She knows....... 199 things! (I will be scared to see that number when she is a teenager)

DG also made one here at the house where she tells me that I am better than a princess.

Both cards were great and I am so saving these!!! I am not a card saver, but these are definitely worth it!

Scary Storms

I know that many people in this area had some rough times with the scary weather. I feel so sorry for all those people who have lost homes and the memories that they held.

Speed has always been afraid of thunder. He is such a fearless kid when it comes to anything else, but thunder freaks him out. So this morning DH wakes up and heads downstairs. He notices Speed's bedroom door is open and that the bed is empty. Then he looks in the bathroom. Speed is completely wrapped up in his comforter and 2 other small blankets along with about 5 of his favorite stuffed animals. He got scared and didn't want to come wake us up. Though I have to say that is the first time in a long time that he has been scared enough to get out of bed. I really felt sorry for him! He also begged me to sleep with him tonight in case it thundered again. Not gonna happen, but I like that he isn't afraid to ask.

Bad Writer!

I am obviously not very good at doing this. I find that when I sit down to write that I have no idea what to say. So a quick update on us! Speed is having allergy symptoms for the first time. He was playing lacrosse last night, and started coughing. He has to wear a mouthpiece and because of that he couldn't breathe. Poor thing!!! He stayed out the rest of the game. This is the kid who will get up - on his own - at 5:30 in the morning to make sure that he gets to go to the gym with daddy. He does not have an alarm clock either! He does not take a nap - hasn't since he was 2. This is one kid who does not stop......ever! I felt so bad for him because I could just see it in his eyes. Hopefully after a couple of more days the allergy medicine will take a better hold of blocking all the crap in the air!

DG is going through some peer pressure issues. She is only 7!!!!! Apparantly the other day a couple of her friends decided that they were going to smash leaves from the fence behind the school and try to force a boy in their class to eat them! Not only that, but they thought that they were poisoning him!!! She really had no idea what that word meant, when I explained it to her, she was in tears and felt so horrible that she had done that. So I had her write an apology letter to this little boy. I wish that I had a copy of the letter. I know the little boy's mom is keeping it because she thought it was so hilarious. Basically, it was like this: (with hearts and flowers and rainbows decorating the edges)

Dear _____,

I am sorry that I tried to poison you. I will never, ever do it again.

Your friend,
DG

It was really great. I was thinking she should put something about not being mean to him anymore, but......

The boys mom actually called her relatives and is going to save the letter becvause she thought it was so funny. All I can say is that I am glad that she knew that DG wasn't trying to be malicious in any way!!!

Also, I won't be in the Army 10 miler as I accidentally waited too long to try to register, luckily so did my friend, so I didn't have to leave her in the cold on this one!

LAW has proposed that we should walk the Marine Corps 10K and I think it is a great idea! I know I can go that far at least :) So now I have Rolling Thunder and the 10K to look forward too. So much for nothing to say, huh??
