I have received a request from Loquita for tips on pull ups. I should start out by saying that I cannot do a strict pull up......yet. I use a kipping pull up. This link takes you to a page that explains the use of the kipping pull up vs. strict pull up.

So, I went to the park yesterday and looked like a total dork swinging around on this jungle gym, flailing my legs. I don't think I did a very good job translating my horizontal movement into vertical movement. But my friend said it looked like I was kind going up a bit. :-p
I might go check out a local crossfit gym this week... if I do I'm sure I'll blog about it.
