Tran-Siberian Orchestra

Last night was so awesome!!! A friend and I went to go see the Tran-Siberian Orchestra. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. Did you know that a violinist can lay down on the floor like a guitar player and play? She was awesome!! Her name is Anna Phoebe. Phenomenal was what I thought the whole time I watched her play!

Of course the whole group was absolutely fantabulous to watch! I really hope that I can go again next year, maybe to a bigger venue. I heard the special effects are much bigger at a larger venue, so we will see. I have the best hubby ever!!!!! Now I am ready to go Christmas shopping :)

On a side note, I think Fat Boy really like it too as during one song he was kicking the crap out of my side. It was kind of neat :)

I got a really cute card from my kids this morning for my birthday, too. So all in all a great way to start the day and the weekend!!!

Birthday and Baby Bump

I am just so excited!! GQ bought me and a friend tickets to go see Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Thursday! I have always wanted to go to one of their concerts. I miss my music of fine arts quite a bit(I was an instrumental music ed major in my early college days). He isn't going with me though. I would love it if he did, but to be honest, he would be bored out of his skull! He knows me so well though! I didn't even tell him that I wanted to go. So now me and a friend of mine get to get dressed up and go see this wonderful group! He is just the best! It is a great birthday present! (which is actually Friday, for those of you who want to know :))

On a side note, I will add a baby bump pic here, though I don't think it's that good of a shot :)

Marine Corps 10K

Wow, that was fun! It was really awesome to see how many people were there... 26k runners for the marathon and five thousand for the 10k! Then there are like 100,000 spectators!!! You wanna talk about being wiped out! I am so glad I was able to hook up with LAW and walk it with her! We did it in about 2 hours. I am also so happy that GQ was willing to drive me to DC and watch the kids while I did this! It was just so awesome to have them there as support, even though I could only walk. We had to get up at 3:30 AM and leave at 4:30. All this after he had just got home the night before from a TDY and had been getting up really early all week long. It was just so great! Oh and my son thinks I am a winner since I got a finishers medal! How cool am I??

That little lady that LAW referred to was pretty dang cool....she also told us that she was sick - sounded like she had a head cold or something and she still ran it! GQ also told me she started 10 minutes after the race started because she got there late!!!! And she crossed th finish line in from of me and LAW!

Sadly my day did not end there, as both kids had halloween or birthday parties to attend and I finally got to sit down at about 7 pm! Fat Boy (which is what I will call the baby from here on out) decided to kick the crap out of me later that day. It didn't actually hurt, but up to this point, it has been little bumps and such. I guess I got him all pumped up by walking that morning.

So today in Crossfit we did "Elizabeth" That is 21-15-9 of Power Cleans and ring dips.
Rx weight for women is 95 - I did 65, and I still use a rubber band to assist with ring dips! Ad since I did this workout several hours ago, now I can't remember my time - dang mommy brain! I think it was 13 minutes or so!

Field trip day tomorrow with DG's class, and it is going to be cold drizzly and windy!!!! Now I have to talk a little girl, who still insists on wearing her tank top dresses over jeans to dress warmly. This should be fun!! Maybe something interesting will happen!!

Missing in Action................or rather Just being Lame!

Well I can see that it has been quite awhile since I last posted.... time sure does seem to go by really fast here lately!!! GQ has returned from his deployment, but I just took him to the airport for a TDY trip. He was only home for like 10 days. Thankfully this is only a 1 week trip!

On the crossfit front! I am still working out consistently and depending on the workout, have not dropped any weight. I had to lower weights for deadlift so far.... We did Crossfit Total a couple of weeks ago and I actually did more weight than the last time! I figured being pregnant would keep me from doing that, but I scored a 455 - 50 points higher than the first time I did it. THat is only like 17 points away from the advanced level! I definitely had personal records on all 3 exercises.. GQ did the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge, this pic is also of his awesome tiger pelt tattoo!

This is him doing double unders. He did very well in the competition, but double unders are his worst exercise and caused him to lose alot of time, so he didn't place but he looked really good doing it all!!! This also took place 2 days after he came home!

On the baby front, we had our sonogram and it is a BOY! I actually have another sonogram coming up because he wouldn't turn and they couldn't measure his spine properly.. They also said that it was a couple of weeks too early for it to be finished forming, so I have to go back.... Darn, I get to see him again, hehehe! It was really exciting! GQ made it back in time to go too so he was there for the ultrasound....

Marine Corps 10K!!!! LAW, I am still doing this and I will email you!!! I have been very bad about emailing or calling people back here lately, as you all ready know!! Sorry! I also am really bad at doing fundraising, but I will be making an effort this week to bring something to the table for this!

The kids are doing awesome in school and Speed has been great (has scored several touchdowns) in flag football!

Knocked Up Fran

Today at CrossfitBWI, we did Fran....and I totally knocked 4 minutes off my time!!!! Not that my time is all that great or anything, considering one of the guys here does it in 2:20. But I managed it it 10:59!!! My last time was over 15 minutes! I am also the first girl to do it at our facility Rx. That made me so happy!! And I did it knocked up LOL. The actual workout was Heavy Fran, but I can't do weighted pull ups, so I did regular Fran. Heavy Fran is 95# (Women)Thrusters, 25# weighted pull ups for 15-12-9.

Fran

21-15-9

65# Thruster (95# for men)
Pull ups

http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/fran-greg_annie.wmv

This is a link to Annie - one of the first crossfitters (I think) doing Fran. She freaking rocks!! Her time is 2:47. OUCH!

It made me feel better after yesterday's disaster of a WOD for me! We did Christine.

3 rounds:

500m row
12 deadlifts (your body weight so I started out at 145 my bw is 140 and dropped to 125 in the last round)
21 box jumps

I don't even remember my time, but I was really pissed that I had to drop the weight My max is like 190 (I think) and I have used 155 as a working weight before, I just couldn't do it yesterday. My friend told me I should do the weighted pull ups because it would be practice for doing them with a big belly, hehehe! Anyway, i just had a good workout day today and wanted to share!!

8 Years Ago Today

8 Years ago today, I stood in the north Texas heat and married my husband. It was one of the greatest days ever for me. This is how we started :)

I moved to Austin in the summer of 99. Even though I knew quite a few people there, I put a profile up on AOL. Oh, yes I did. Mostly it was just to meet people and make new friends. If more came of it, then great, if not, oh well. I was having a great time going out clubbing like 5 nights a week. Other nights were spent hanging out with friends.

I had met a few guys through the AOL personals and gone out on a few dates. At some point, I ran into one of the guys that I went to high school went. He was stationed at Fort Hood. He was only the second guy in the army I had ever dated. We dated for like 2 months and then out os nowhere, I was too much for him. He very much valued his alone time, I infringed on that. Mind you he was never hateful and we just split up and went on about our lives. I had cancelled the AOL profile while dating him, and put it back up after we broke up.

Sometime in February, I received this email from a guy who was in the army. He was very polite, but he didn't send a picture so I deleted his email. His screen name was something like 69TRITR69. I didn't think much else about it for awhile. Then one day in March, I was chatting online and this new chat box comes up and guess who's screen name but does appear? We started chatting and I talked him into sending me a picture of him. He had all ready seen mine as I had one on my profile. He was HHHAAAAWWWT! Apparantly he had added my screen name to his messenger. He never chatted online and only had me and his roommate as buddies on list. He never turned it on, but he had rebooted his computer and when it came up, there I was and he had no idea who I was, LOL. Oh and his screen name which my mind went to the gutter when I looked at it really meant 1969 Triumph Tiger 69. That is what his motorcycle at the time was.

We chatted online for about 2 weeks, and he asked for my number, I told him no, but I would get his and call him. So we talked on the phone every night for another week before he asked me out. We went out and it was all I could do to keep control of myself. Not to mention, I knew he had tiger stripes tattooed on his back, from the base of his neck to his tailbone. I have had a fascination for tigers since I was like 8. I made him let me see it on our first date and wow! Never thought I was a tattoo girl, but it was just awesome. He asked me on a second date and this was to a motorcycle rally in a nearby town over Easter weekend. Our first date was a Wednesday, and the second one started Friday.

After that weekend, we were officially a couple. About 6 weeks after we met, he proposed. 3 months after that we were married. 8 years ago today.

Lord, I love that man!!!

Feeling much better!

I am finally starting to feel a little normal. Though the sense of smell is still stronger than ever! I can finally make it through the day without feeling like I am going to hurl all the time!! Yeah!!!

The kids have been up to some funny stuff. I weny outside this evening to find my two kids, plus about 3 other neighborhood kids trying to get a ball out of a runoff drain. It has a big grate over it with slats in it. They had a broom adn were all chewing gum........anyone see where I am going with this? It was straight out of an old movie I reacall called The Sandlot. They stuck the gum on the end of the broom and were trying to stick the ball to it to pull it back up! One of the older ones giving them instructions on making sure that the gum has a minute or so to dry before trying to get it to stick to the ball. It was great!!!! Of course the broom was just a tad too short so the poor bouncy ball is still in the drain. Kids are so funny!

Wow, it's been awhile!

OK, so being pregnant is not so much fun right now :) I am not really getting sick so much as I am just always nauseous!!! Being on the computer for too long is one of those things I really haven't been able to do. That is really annoying for me as I always feel the need to be on it and especially check my email constantly!!

Tonight, I actually had to have a friend come over and cook the meat for our dinner because it was making me sick. She is sooo awesome! When I opened the hamburger meat, I thought it smelled funny. It was a little freezer burned, but when I put it in the pan, that smell just filled the whole kitchen. I was on the phone with my friend and she offered to come check it out. Apparantly my prego nose isn't smelling things properly! She said it smelled fine to her and fixed it for the kids. I still couldn't eat it though. I had to have a sandwich. I hope that this all is over after the first trimester!!!!!

News from the CrossFit front!! I powercleaned 105#!!! That is 20 up from where I was before! We also did this horrible thing today! 150 pushups with a twist. You do as many push ups as you can, but as soon as you have to take a break (knees down, butt in the air, laying on the ground, etc.) you have to run 400m. OK, I totally opted to do these push ups on my knees - I do not normally do that. Usually I do it on my toes. It was still just as painful!! I think I had to run 5 times, because I pushed myself till I was going to fall on my face. I suck at push ups, but I loathe running!!!!!!! I have hated it since I was a kid!! Anyway!

I am going to go lay back down! I am feeling a little iffy right now!

He's off again!

So yet again, we start another deployment! 3 months or so. Not a long one, but this is number 5 since we got married. The kids are finally in bed and it is quiet around here. Though one thing is different this deployment!

I am pregnant!

I have to admit that I am completely relieved that he will be home before I have this baby. I could do it alone, if need be, but I am so thankful that I don't have, too. I just ask God everyday to keep him safe and bring him home to me and the kids.

We also got rid of ALL of our baby stuff like 3 yrs ago. So I get to go looking for new stuff! Yeah for shopping!!!! Though I still am going to hold off on that because if we have to move in the near future, then I don't want to have to move extra stuff. Plus the sex won't even be known for like 3 months or so. I have more to write about but I am exhausted. I need to go to bed before the kids wake up with the sun!

GQ

I am finally sitting down to write why I am calling my hubby GQ.. I had originally decided not to, but I have given in..... :)

Awhile back on Spousebuzz, AFW wrote a post about her hubby being a Geardo. Guess what the G stands for??? I have to say that my hubby out does himself when it comes to gear though. Because if he can't buy it, he will make it.....and I mean anything that he needs!! From antennaes to new pockets that fit on his armoured vest or belt. EVERYTHING!!!! He is also always making improvements on things he has made before.

We currently have a 20 ft PVC antenna mast in our front yard (and we live on post) so that he could test it for use while we are camping! His new hobby is ham radio. One kid actually asked him if it was a rocket ship *snicker*

And that brings me to the Q..........for queer! His buddies in one of his training classes called him this and I just think it fits him!! Cute, huh??? My little Gear Queer! GQ has a much snazzier ring to it though, don't you think??

Great Weekend

This weekend was really nice! I finally had a feeling of being whole. I received a lovely bouquet of flowers from GQ, and he surprised me by coming home a day early from a 3 week TDY!! Of course I was at a friends house having dinner since he wasn't supposed to be home yet, but that is OK. It was really great to have him home! Someone else to referee the fights!! We went to Crossfit on Saturday and then to the pool for the afternoon. Today we just hung out at the house. Now the kids are in bed - almost and I can wait for Army Wives to come on!

Oh and GQ is what I am going to call my hubby from now on. I will have to explain that at a later date! Night!

But, MOOooOOM!

I think I have heard that more today than ever before. All because I made the kids clean their room, and refused to let them have ice cream from the truck.

My son was even willing to throw ALL of his toys away rather than pick them up. So I made him clean them anyway. He still isn't finished. DG actually has a clean room - which is like amazing!!! Her room is always a disaster.

They were fighting...again, like they have been since about 2 weeks before school was out. When I asked them why today, DG says "That's what brothers and sisters do, Mom." She even managed to look completely exasperated. What could I say to that??

Oh and Trying! I am going to do the Cookie Swap, but I have to go get some of the ingredients! I am looking forward to trying your recipe!! I love pumpkin everything!!!!

A little of everything :)

So yesterdays workout tore my hands up! I mean I can't hold on to anything except withmy fingertips! Workout was 12 burpees, 12 pullups - 10 rounds for time! By the time I got to the 5th round, my hands were getting torn up! It tooks me 38:18 to get done! 120 pull ups!! I did them all kipping too!

Here's my hands now!

Speed also got his first trophy for playing lacrosse this evening! This trophy is the whole reason he wanted to play a sport.

I also got the dress for my sisters wedding too! She had given us a list of colors that we could pick from and we could get whichever dress we wanted. I found out today that my other sister (There are 4 of us) also bought the same dress today for the wedding! I love it and it is going to be great for any balls/dining ins I might need to attend in the future! This is the top of it, I could not get the full dress to come out right. It is floor length though.

So I still have to find a flower girl dress for DG, which I am totally using ebay, because everywhere those things are waaay to much for a one time thing!

The kids also start their own scrapbooking club tomorrow and I think they are really going to have fun with it! I can't wait to see what they make!

Brother in Law back at home!

Well my brother in law is back at home now and getting back into the rhythm of family life. My sister is very glad to not have to drive to the hospital - it is 2 hours one way. Thank you for all your prayers and please continue them as it will take him a long time to fully recover!

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Marine Corp 10K

Okay, I am all registered for the Marine Corp 10K. This will be the first time I have entered into any thing like this since middle school!! I am excited!! I will be walking with LAW. I hope to meet Loquita as well!! I know several of my friends here will be doing it too!

Flash Burn

I need to ask for prayers from everyone. My brother-in-law was trying to burn some brush last Wednesday. When he tried to light the brush, it flashed back on him and burned him. He is ok, but he has alot of recovery ahead of him. They still have not released him from the hospital and he may be there for at least 3 more days.

My nephew, 5 months, really misses him, but he isn't allowed in the burn unit. Everytime he hears a male voice he turns to see who it is, then cries when it isn't daddy. My BIL will probably not be able to hold him for a long time. His burns cover his arms and his nose, chin and one side of his face.

He won't even be able to go utside without being completely covered for one year! I feel so bad for them!

I would love for as many people to lift him up to God for fast healing and for my sister's family to be ok financially after the care he received is complete. I can't even imagine what those bills are going to be like. Thanks in advance to everyone who is willing to pray for them all!

Rolling Thunder XXI

What a day yesterday! We woke up at 5:30 am and headed out for the Pentagon parking lot by 7 am. We got there at about 7:45 and we were still no where near the front!! I am very thankful that it was not anywhere near as hot as it was last year though! Soon we were able to meet up with LAW! That was very neat for me! She is the first blogger I have had the pleasure to meet :) We also met her husband, which was awesome as well! After chatting with her for awhile, DH, the kids and I went walking around to look at all the bikes. There are so many that are dedicated to veterans at this event, that I couldn't even conceive of getting pictures of them all.

This one I actually heard the owner say that he plans on giving it to the Smithsonian after he has passed. (I am not including all the angles of this bike, there are many!!)

That bike also happened to be next to the OCC National Guard Bike! Which was very cool for me as I watched this bike being built on American Chopper.

The following is a picture of Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers.
I also caught a glimpse of airforcewife of Spousebuzz fame from afar. I wasn't sure it was her until today, when I saw the pics of her kids on Spousebuzz here. The following is one of my munchkins. They don't like the camera or anything..........

I am so thankful that we were able to attend this event for a second year in a row. It is wonderful to see how many people turn out to remember those who are gone or still MIA, and those who have or are still serving. I also feel very blessed to have had our motorcycle and my family blessed by a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. It was a wonderful day.

Kipping Pull Ups

I have received a request from Loquita for tips on pull ups. I should start out by saying that I cannot do a strict pull up......yet. I use a kipping pull up. This link takes you to a page that explains the use of the kipping pull up vs. strict pull up.

http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_Kipping1-Concept.wmv

The above link actually gives a demo on the kipping pull up. I hope that this helps!

My Mother's day

Well all in all it was a pretty boring, but relaxing day. I received some beautiful cards from DG and Speed. I want to scan them in and post them here, but that will have to wait until later today.

DG made a card at school that included a fill in the blank page about you mom. DG's went as follows:

My mom is prettier than .....a pony in a bow! (Yes, I am prettier than a horse LOL)

My mom is smart, too. She knows....... 199 things! (I will be scared to see that number when she is a teenager)

DG also made one here at the house where she tells me that I am better than a princess.

Both cards were great and I am so saving these!!! I am not a card saver, but these are definitely worth it!

Scary Storms

I know that many people in this area had some rough times with the scary weather. I feel so sorry for all those people who have lost homes and the memories that they held.

Speed has always been afraid of thunder. He is such a fearless kid when it comes to anything else, but thunder freaks him out. So this morning DH wakes up and heads downstairs. He notices Speed's bedroom door is open and that the bed is empty. Then he looks in the bathroom. Speed is completely wrapped up in his comforter and 2 other small blankets along with about 5 of his favorite stuffed animals. He got scared and didn't want to come wake us up. Though I have to say that is the first time in a long time that he has been scared enough to get out of bed. I really felt sorry for him! He also begged me to sleep with him tonight in case it thundered again. Not gonna happen, but I like that he isn't afraid to ask.

Allergies Suck!

All I really have to say is how much I hate allergies. My head is so stopped up and I am just miserable..........

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Bad Writer!

I am obviously not very good at doing this. I find that when I sit down to write that I have no idea what to say. So a quick update on us! Speed is having allergy symptoms for the first time. He was playing lacrosse last night, and started coughing. He has to wear a mouthpiece and because of that he couldn't breathe. Poor thing!!! He stayed out the rest of the game. This is the kid who will get up - on his own - at 5:30 in the morning to make sure that he gets to go to the gym with daddy. He does not have an alarm clock either! He does not take a nap - hasn't since he was 2. This is one kid who does not stop......ever! I felt so bad for him because I could just see it in his eyes. Hopefully after a couple of more days the allergy medicine will take a better hold of blocking all the crap in the air!

DG is going through some peer pressure issues. She is only 7!!!!! Apparantly the other day a couple of her friends decided that they were going to smash leaves from the fence behind the school and try to force a boy in their class to eat them! Not only that, but they thought that they were poisoning him!!! She really had no idea what that word meant, when I explained it to her, she was in tears and felt so horrible that she had done that. So I had her write an apology letter to this little boy. I wish that I had a copy of the letter. I know the little boy's mom is keeping it because she thought it was so hilarious. Basically, it was like this: (with hearts and flowers and rainbows decorating the edges)

Dear _____,

I am sorry that I tried to poison you. I will never, ever do it again.

Your friend,
DG

It was really great. I was thinking she should put something about not being mean to him anymore, but......

The boys mom actually called her relatives and is going to save the letter becvause she thought it was so funny. All I can say is that I am glad that she knew that DG wasn't trying to be malicious in any way!!!

Also, I won't be in the Army 10 miler as I accidentally waited too long to try to register, luckily so did my friend, so I didn't have to leave her in the cold on this one!

LAW has proposed that we should walk the Marine Corps 10K and I think it is a great idea! I know I can go that far at least :) So now I have Rolling Thunder and the 10K to look forward too. So much for nothing to say, huh??

Contracts

So I walked outside the other day to find Speed writing a contract.........for wishes. DG was out and about trying to find someone who would actually sign the contract and pay $1 for wishes, and if they couldn't convince them to buy wishes, then they were offering rocks for 1 penny! How funny is that??? Sadly they were both informed by all the neighborhood kids that it was a rip off.

I should also add that though Speed know how to write all his letters, he cannot read, or for that matter spell many words - so he was using a dollar bill to draw a picture of the amount needed for the wish :)

Working Out

Okay, so I am up to 10 pull ups! Yay!!!!!!! I also agreed with my friend to run the Army 10 miler and yes, I am nuts - I did make sure it would be perfectly acceptable if I walk. hehehe I am not a runner! Never have been! But I figure I have several months to get ready for this thing!

This and that

Speed has started lacrosse now. It is really cute to watch all those little kids out there running around trying to learn new skills. This is his first time in a sport but I think he is doing great so far. He is the shortest one playing, but he can run forever!!!! The other day he decided to go workout with daddy at his gym and he ran 2 miles!!! Just because! I need some of that energy! I have to get myself hyped up to run 2 miles.

In my weight loss journey I have hit 13 lbs. 13 lbs gone! Still have 10 more to go, but it will be gone by this summer and I will be buying a new swimsuit or 3 :)

I also have to say that I suck at giving my husband gifts. Not all the time, but I never know what to get him. Yesterday was his birthday and I couldn't think of anything to get him. Nothing!!!!!! The problem is he is not sentimental - at all, so things like that rate a big nothing with him. He doesn't wear jewelry, except his wedding ring, and I am not buying him a new one every year. He doesn't read except when deployed and this last deployment I don't think he read at all. He usually goes and buys whatever he wants so then I don't even have anything to go get him, even if I know what he is wanting! I feel like a total loser wife right now, can you tell? I got him a card and we went out to dinner, and we had a few friends over this past weekend, but other than that I came up with squat!

The good things I have come up with were a new dog, last year I got him an Olde English Bulldogge for our anniversary. His name is Gunny and he is about as adorable as can be. One time I got him a coin case for all his coins because he has waaaay too many to be leaving them laying around. He has received Geocache caches for Father's day before too. Geocaching is something we enjoy as a family so that one was a nice one. I seriously don't know what to do!!!

I need to go think about it I suppose!!! Suggestions are always good!!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone has a blessed and happy Easter!

I haven't posted in awhile because I lead a very boring life, LOL Not too much going on.

Except for one thing! I did one pull up the other day while I was working out! Hopefully there will be more to come!!!

Flu Round 2!

So Speed has the flu again! Yippee for me! At least they gave me something for it this time! Last time all they would let me give him was ibuprofen. Maybe he will recover faster this time! Hopefully I won't get it either! I am so tired.......need to go to bed.

Press

No not the media kind :) I have been doing a littel strength training in my workouts and today I did a push jerk of 85 lbs. Basically it is a shoulder press with a little of a squat added in. I have no upper body strength, or at least I didn't think I did. Guess I had more than I thought!!! The other day I did 95 lbs in a back squat. These 2 days are the first time I have lifted since high school. I am really liking it too!

Speed is running fever again. I hope it clears up, so I can make my workout on Saturday. Tomorrow is a run day!

What's that smell?

As I was walking down an aisle, holding my son up do he can see the shelves at the commissary this afternoon, he reaches up and squeezes my nose and says " Plug your nose, Mom, I'm gonna fart!" LOL Boys!

2 Miles!!!

Okay, I just ran 2 miles without stopping!!!!!!! Now to some this may seem like child's play but for me this is huge! I have never ever run 2 miles, continously that is. I have been asthmatic all my life and running outside has not been a good option for me. Since hubby has been home I have been working out 6 days a week. running for 3 of those and doing conditioning on the other 3. I have finally built myself up to 2 miles on the treadmill! And yes I am proud of myself! I am still sweating from doing it, that is how excited I am! Now I just have to get my speed in running up! whew! I need a shower LOL

How long?

I don't even know how long it has been since the last time I posted on here. I have become a blog hermit. hehe Last week I was working on getting ready for our formal and this week I have absolutely nothing to do! Of course hubby is on TDY, so I am really really bored!

We finally got Speed's skateboard back today....the MP's actually had it for over 6 weeks!! It is in pieces too. The kid who took it, disassembled it in order to try to paint over it and make it unrecognizable to anyone who knew what Speed's board looked like.

Anyway! I am going to get something ready for dinner - I don't know what yet, but something......

Thursday, February 21, 2008

OK so I have been a little lax in getting things posted. This last week went by really fast! The kids and I are all finally back to good health. Our unit formal is coming up next weekend which I am really looking forward too. Of course hubby gets an email this morning asking him to go TDY for the day of the formal!!! I have all ready bought my dress, he has all ready had his uniform at the cleaners, and we have all ready paid for the dinner! I really hope he can talk someone into finding someone who hasn't all ready paid for everything.

I would also like to reccomend a book for all you readers out there! If you have not yet read Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, please do. I am not even done with it yet, but I love it! So I am back to reading it some more today as I didn't have time yesterday!

Back in the Race

LOL Well at least for the time being! Speed is much better now, but I think that I am coming down with it now. My body can't seem to make up its mind. One minute I am stopped up, the next I am fine. THen I get sore and achy all over and that will go away too! Weird!

We had a lovely Valentine's dinner out this evening and DH got me flowers. Beautiful Tulips!

Still haven't found me a dress though....I am out looking though! I have to find a sitter too!!!

I hope everyone found something to smile about today!!! Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

still stuck...

at home with Speed. Hopefully after Tuesday, he will be back in school!!! We have got him all ready for lacrosse, except his stick, which we will be getting soon enough. He is so excited about playing a sport! I can't wait to see him in his little uniform!!!

I am so ready to get out of the house. I need to go shopping for a dress for our Dining In. I haven't bought a new dress in a couple of years so I am looking forward to go shopping.

Speed Bumps

So Speed has hit a speed bump. He definitely has the flu. Of course it is the strain that they were giving the flu fhot for this year, and we didn't get one. His school gave them out to all the kids unless they were under 5, and at the time they did it, he was still 4. So DG should be safe from getting sick at least....me on the other hand, I am sure in the next few days that I will be feeling like crap. He still has about 5 days of this according to the Dr. Great, I can't go anywhere and by the time he will be over it, I will be sick and won't be able to go!

I have a great friend who dropped me off a book to read, as I can't take Speed into the library now and I have read everything in my house all ready. I think I am going to go crazy!! Praying to God to keep us all healthy (ier) and for paience with each other when we are sick!

Watch out for speed bumps!!

Speed not so Speedy

Speed has been sick for the past couple of days. I have to say that we have really been blessed for the past couple of years as neither of the kiddos has been sick. His fever has been over 100 since yesterday morning so we have a Dr appointment for this afternoon. He has been a little stopped up, but only in the morning, so I am thinking it may be a sinus infection. Which reminds me I have to call his school to tell them I know he isn't there. Otherwise I get the recorded call that says my kid missed school. I understand this for high schooler, but PreK???

DH is off for a one night trip to another post so at least I don't ave to cook tonight! :)

Best of Both Worlds

So tonight is the opening night of the Hannah Montana 3D movie, and yes, I broke down and bought tickets for me and DG. She really wanted to go to the concert, but it just wasn't in the cards. So we are doing this instead! It should be interesting. I really hope that I do not have to stand in line for hours to get a good seat, though we will be there early, just in case. I love theaters that are at the mall :)

I will say that I really do like Miley Cyrus too. For such a young girl, she is not a brat or diva-like, at least from what I have been able to see of her. I really hope that she stays that way and that she never pulls away from her family, so she stays grounded! Here's to hoping!!

Toilets that....

get stopped up due to excessive toilet paper use are a pain in the !@#!@. As I was attempting to unstop it once again, DH walks up to the bathroom door and offers his advice....

"You have to plunge it, not tickle it!"

Thanks, honey. That helped. *giggle*

He's home!!

OK so Dh is home now!! Doing the happy dance!! The kids were so excited and it feels nice to have him in my arms again! He even has the rest of the week off so we can just hang out! I love that man so much!!

Any minute now!

He should be calling any minute now for us to go get him!!! Everything is done, and the stuff that isn't he won't care about anyway! I have sat down to relax for the first time all day just now. I also need to come up with a name for him in the blog. All the ones I really like are taken. Hmmmmmm I have thought about Face (you know, from the A-Team). Hubby is kind of like that, he can take anything and use it to make something.

Daaaaaaaaaaaang! He needs to call..........

Counting

the hours!!! I have finished almost everything that I wanted to get done, and lack of funds for all the other stuff I wanted to get will just have to put all that on hold. I would like to have some fun money when DH gets home!!

DG's party is pretty much ready to go! She is getting really excited that daddy is going to be home on her birthday! She also doesn't know that I am going to redo her room while she is at school tomorrow. I can't wait for her to see it. Nothing fancy, just a new bedspread, sheets, rearranging her room, etc. I really hope that she loves it though!

She really made me laugh today too. I called her and her brother big ole turkeys, and she said,

"Mom, you are the biggest turkey ever. Dance like a chicken, Mom, dance!!!

Maybe it was only funny to me, but she doesn't usually come back with cute quips like that.

I still can't believe she is going to be 7!!!

Boys and the bathroom

OK, so I have read about airforcewife's son and where he prefers to use the bathroom, so I thought I would share a story about my son. This actually happened a couple of years ago. He was 3 and we lived in post housing. We were in the really old housing so it was small adn our yards were very small as well. At the time we only had one dog, and one day I was going out to take of the messes that dogs make. As I am walking out the back door, Speed speaks up

"Are you going to pick up my poop?"

No I am picking up the dog's.

I bend over and start cleaning up different spots. Once again,

"Are you going to pick up my poop?"

Then it dawns on me that he was serious and was very concerned aboutme cleaning up his mess. So I asked him if he actually pooped in the yard. He said, incrediously I might add, with one eyebrow raised,

"Well yeah, I had to go!"

I should also add that yes, he actually talks that way and has since he was 2. He is way to smart for his own good.

Getting there

OK, so the curtains are hung, though the valance will have to wait. Party favors, Invitations are done. I have appointments for the dogs to be groomed. I still have to call and get a hair appointment...blah blah blah. Menial and boring tasks abound, eh? Yeah well, one small bit of good news......but I must explain first!

Speed decided last weekend that he wanted to let his friend borrow his skateboard. So his friend runs off with it. Speed following close on his scooter. Somewhere in the day his friend walked off with it and then left it in a neighbors yard. Then the local neighborhood skateboard thief walks off with it. Now, in my opinion, it was my sons fault for not making sure it got put up. At the same time, he is 5. The kid who walked off with it is in middle school. I tried to go talk to his father about it, but couldn't get anyone to answer the door. So I went and filed a police report. Now, I only did it because I felt someone needed to do something to make this kid realize there are people who don't care if he is a kid, if he is stealing, he should be disciplined for it. He has been known to walk into peoples garages and take stuff from there as well. Anyway, my eyewitness of this kid taking Speed's board, spoke with the thief today and he told him that the MP's have my son's board!!!! So I suppose we will see how long it takes to actually get it back!

Anyway, looking forward to having my hunny home!!

Feeling

a little overwhelmed. Dh will be home soon and I have many things to do. I mean, what military wife doesn't upon the return of their hero, right? My problem at the time is deciding what to do first. At this point, I have enough time for everything, but I know me. I will end up putting it all off till it's too late to get it all done. I know I can't be the only one who does this.....

So hair, nails, cleaning the house, installing new curtains (that won't be here till Tuesday), getting his dry cleaning done, finding a new outfit for his return, planning DG's birthday party and finish, getting the rest of her gifts, Exercise everyday and eat nothing (lmao yeah right!), and I am sure there is more that I need to take care of that I am missing right now. I guess we will see how much of this gets done right?

Just because.......

So I opened my door this evening to a lovely surprise!

Also, the other day I went upstairs to email a friend back. I was only there maybe 5 minutes. I come downstairs and find my daughter, let's call her DG from here on out, making her own sandwich. She proudly calls this her recipe.

Bet you are wondering what's in it. At first I thought, wow that's alot of mayo, but no.......she used whip cream! Nilla wafers for eyes, cherry tomato for a nose, and since she could find nothing suitable for the mouth, she draws a smile in the whipped cream and fills it with Nilla wafer crumbs. Then she proudly ate it and insisted it was good. She has even asked permission to make her recipe on several different occasions. All I can say is I am so glad I didn't have to eat that. Bleh! Oh yeah, and she made one for her brother, Speed, and he ate his, too. *gag*

Been Lazy

I have been lazy this past week. I have been reading books and I finished 2 and am a quarter of the way through a 3rd. I had a lovely scrapbooking club on Saturday night and got 4 pages done and learned a new technique for my pages. I have so much scrapping to catch up on it isn't funny!! The whole time we were in Kentucky, I didn't do any scrapping!

DH is coming home soon and I can't wait!! We are going to set up a home gym in the garage and start working out together. Now, this is a scary concept for me! As my hubby is so in shape that I have almost no hope of ever being like that. And I am not in the greatest shape either. I am not horrible, I can do workouts, get sweaty, get sore and all that jazz, but I am just not at the level he is at! He is going to have to promise to go easy on me for a little while till I get me some muscles, hehehe!!

I hope everyone has had a great first week of 2008!
